
Joshua Chu is a qualified lawyer, law lecturer, and award-winning legal counsel with a proven track record in predictive AI, cyber advisory, and blockchain innovation. As Director at CITD (HKEx 8178), he drives advancements in AI and Web3 cybersecurity development. He also serves as a Senior Consultant at Prosynergy (a regulatory consulting firm led by former SFC regulators), and is a Lecturer at HKUSPACE.
Aside from his professional roles, Joshua is also the Co-Chair of The Hong Kong Web3 Association, Director at the Corporate Counsel Hong Kong Association, and Legal Advisor to the Hong Kong Blockchain Association and Women in Web3 Hong Kong. Over the years, Joshua has spearheaded groundbreaking legal cases, including:
• Hong Kong's first crypto litigation (2016)
• First court order for service via data room (2020)
• First tokenized Listed Company bonds (2023)
• First civil judgment against JPEX (2024, dubbed "Hong Kong's FTX")
• Hong Kong's first tokenized injunction order (2024)
Before his legal career, Joshua led the IT department at a private hospital, bringing a unique multidisciplinary perspective to his work.
His cases are regularly featured in both international and local media, with his work recognised through a history of accolades, including being named a Lexology Legal Influencer (TMT Asia) on multiple occasions and receiving rankings in the Lex Falcon Global Awards and CBLJ In-House Counsel Awards.
In 2025 alone, Joshua has been shortlisted for both the ALA and ALB Awards, honoured as a LexisNexis 40 Under 40 recipient on both the Asia and Hong Kong lists, and named the winner of the LexisNexis ELITE Award.
