The crypto exchange BitMart has told users it is exploring a potential restructuring, a move it is presenting as an alternative to the full wind-down it announced on 26 July 2026. The update went out on 21 August 2026 across BitMart’s official channels, including its accounts on X and an official notice on its English-language help centre.
In its own English-language notice, BitMart framed the effort as an early-stage plan still subject to review rather than a settled outcome:
“Following further discussions with members of the community, our stakeholders and professional advisers, BitMart is developing a potential restructuring plan as an alternative to a full wind-down. The potential plan may include the phased resumption of certain operations in an orderly manner alongside distributions to creditors, subject to further legal, financial, operational and regulatory assessment. To support this process, BitMart has appointed White & Case as its restructuring counsel.”

From wind-down to a possible restart
The announcement marks a shift in tone from late July, when BitMart moved to wind down its business. Its help centre carries an “Important Notice Regarding the Orderly Cessation of BitMart Operations” dated 26 July 2026, alongside separate notices around the same period discontinuing spot margin trading, suspending its automated market making bot and addressing services for United States users. The 21 August update does not declare that the wind-down is cancelled.
The company has brought in outside professional advisers to run the process, naming White & Case as the law firm weighing which options are realistic and helping shape the plan, including how any staged return of services might be structured. A roadmap is being drawn up, and BitMart said it will “endeavour to provide a further update by no later than 9 September 2026.”
What it means for users and creditors
For customers with assets on the platform, the practical position is unchanged for now: BitMart has described a possible path back, not a confirmed one, and has set no date for any return to normal operations. BitMart also said it would ask users for input on any eventual resumption plan before it takes effect.
What is still unknown
BitMart has put no numbers to any of this. It has disclosed no figure for creditor distributions, no reserve total, no repayment schedule, and no confirmed date for any resumption of services. The company has deferred that detail to the roadmap it aims to publish by 9 September 2026, and has stressed that everything announced so far remains subject to further assessment. BitMart also repeated a standing warning to users to rely only on its official channels and to be wary of scams trading on the uncertainty.
